The remedies are not being removed completely, but will be kept behind the pharmicists counter and should not be administered to
people who wish to treat children under the age of 2 years.

The products which are being removed include

• Asda Children’s Chesty Cough Syrup
• Calcough Chesty
• Boots Chesty Cough Syrup (one year plus)
• Children’s Chesty Cough
• Boots sore throat and cough linctus (one year plus)
• Buttercup infant cough syrup

More remedies which are aimed at the over 2s will be removed until they contain warnings about the dangers
of administering them to children under 2.

It’s a precautionary measure, to avoid dangerous situations where the medicines are used in the wrong quantity
for the wrong age group. It is to avoid overdose especially when they are given to very young children.
This action was taken when it was found many parents were unwittingly overdosing young children with cough
remedies.

Paracetamol and ibuprofen medicines, vapour rubs and simple cough syrup such
as glycerol, honey or lemon are recommended instead of the cough remedies for their young children.

Eye contact

Babbling

A bit more advanced than cooing, eventually your baby will move on to babbling. This is different from cooing because it requires using the tongue and the front of the mouth to make sounds.

Reaching and grabbing

To encourage reaching and grabbing, get down on the floor with your baby and place a favorite toy just out of reach. The more opportunities you create, the more you engage her senses and entice her to touch, smell, look, and learn about objects.

Pulling up to a stand

One of the first signs that your baby is getting ready to walk is that he begins to pull himself up to a standing position. This is a sign of their developing stability on their feet.

Pincer grasp

This is actually quite important.
There’s the crude pincer grasp that occurs around 7 or 8 months, when babies use all of their fingers and their thumb to pick up a spoon or toy. Then, a few months later, they refine the skill and, with either hand, very neatly take their thumb and forefinger to pick up one Cheerio or one piece of a puzzle.

Gestures

A New Zealand couple has recently decided to name their newborn baby 4Real.  Unique and made up names are becoming an international trend.

This name is illegal in New Zealand. The couple argue that if people can be known as John Williams III, for example, then why can a number not be used at the beginning of a name?

By law, New Zealand authorities have the right to turn down names that are openly offensive or obscene, and rightly so.  While personal opinions can not be controlled by any authority, a child’s right to have a valid and positive, if not at least an unoffensive name is a basic right.

The Mexican government has also tried to regulate baby names, to help protect the child from ridicule in later years. Among the names deemed “improper”  are Lluvia, which means rain, Azul, which means blue.

Parents who dare to be different by tricking up the spelling of a name better think twice — only “common spellings” are going to fly
