The father can be a peripheral figure durihng pregnancy and in the early months of a childs life. They may be working and may not have much contact with the child when they are awake. If the mother is breastfeeding, the father will not have any input in that task either.

Despite all this, the fathers job is a very important one and a positive male influence in the upbringing of a child can be very beneficial. The dad can bring qualities to the childs life which would not be there in a mother only situation.

Another problem facing dads is their treatment by the legal system when a family unit breaks up. Their is an evident favouring of the mother in custody situations. In many cases this may be correct but in many cases it appears that fathers are unfairly treated.

We have tried to compile some resources which will provide information and advice to all fathers, why not check out our Fathers day and Fathers day gift ideas section for starters our we have the lyrics for a very popular song Dance With My Father by Luther Vandross. We also have some tips for fathers of daughters
